A Day to Remember

We had finally made it, Money was in the bank, Our artist Steve Tinney had been across to Ireland, The bronze was complete!

The site was ready and so were we but sadly our Grand Opening Ceremony had to be curtailed thanks to government restrictions in place due to Covid – 19.

However – we managed to get members of both the Mackenzie and Collie families to the site and along with a piper, committee members, and members of the press, the sculpture was unveiled and revealed to the world!

Here at Last!!

After 17 years they have finally arrived!

Yes they have arrived
and thank you to all who have made this possible!
but PLEASE note the following
The sculpture is in place and closely covered whilst work continues to complete the task. Hector and volunteers are working to make sure all is well before the covers come off.
It is unfortunate that due to the current restrictions and with advice from the Scottish Government we are not able to have the ‘Grand Opening’ which had always been our plan. However we will be using social media to share the Big Reveal!
After Saturday of course the sculpture will be available for all to see but we would ask that everyone continues to abide by the rules – no large gatherings, ensure social distancing and when necessary wear a mask.
Thank you all for your support, your donations and your encouragement – without which we would not be where we are today. I look forward to the day when we can all meet again and celebrate this magnificent achievement

An amazing last few months of fundraising!

We are very near to achieving our goal of celebrating the lives of two pioneers of the Cuillin of Skye.

Thanks to some generous donations, we are now within touching distance of reaching our target figure of £117,000 and placing the sculpture in the landscape at Sligachan at the foot of the Cuillin.

Recent press publicity has highlighted our story and has been a great help in promoting our project.

We are so close now to achieving our goal and giving the go ahead to our artist to begin the process of making the sculpture and pouring it in bronze, one and a half times life size, to sit in the landscape.

Visit the donations page of this website if you would like to help make history on the Isle of Skye.
